D eveloped in the 1960's as a re-usable manned spacecraft for the military, the DynaSoar was the forerunner of today's space shuttle.
While it made it through the prototype stage, funding was cut before any test flights were made.
Along with the MOL, the X-20 DynaSoar represented an entire division of this country's manned space program assigned to military use.
In the end, the Congress didn't like the idea of military use of men in space and turned the military budget towards unmanned reconnaissance. Model stands approx. 16 inches tall.
