The "business end" of the mighty Saturn V was a cluster of five F-1 Engines. One little known fact about the F-1 Engine is that for the flight article, they were covered with an asbestos insulation with a foil-like "batted" covering. This can be seen in the close-up videos of Saturn V launches. Details about the batting were hard to come by and for many years there was some debate as to whether the engines were batted at all. Thanks to John Duncan, owner of reference photos were finally discovered that proved the fact that the F-1s were batted. This set of five batted F-1 engines are designed for use with the Revell 1/96 Saturn V kit.
